Description

Frontiers Publishing Partnerships leads the movement to make science and research open by partnering with societies to support the publication of their journals. This market-leading technology backed by a professional team makes Frontiers a reliable and high-quality home for society journals.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, motivational leader to join us as a Partner Journal Operations Manager who will oversee a portfolio of Society Partnership journals and lead a team of Specialists handling the research integrity and peer review pipeline of these partner journals. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting performance targets, staff management, and collaborating with the journal development teams to ensure a successful partnership with society journals.

The position will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to work within the exciting new and growing department of Frontiers Publishing Partnerships, working closely with the Partnerships Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring progress and ensuring that the team meets key objectives.
  • Train new team members, provide performance feedback and conduct appraisals.
  • Inspire, mentor and drive team development with initiatives and projects.
  • Optimise team processes by identifying areas for improvement, proposing solutions and implementing them.
  • Manage society-specific standard operating procedures and user guides for each journal within your portfolio, including their research integrity requirements, peer review workflows and other quality criteria.
  • Revise or draft new peer review procedures and policies, in line with society-specific requirements and evolving industry standards.
  • Work closely with the journal development team to manage client relationships, represent the operations team to external clients through platform demos, onboarding discussions and editorial board training.
  • Be the point of knowledge for clients and your team of specialists regarding research integrity issues related to scholarly publishing and review pipeline optimization.

Requirements

  • Experience in working with publishing partnerships would be an advantage.
  • Previous line management experience would be an advantage.
  • Highly organised with an ability to digest large amounts of information and juggle multiple projects and needs at the same time.
  • Initiative taking, dynamic and focused personality who can react effectively to urgent situations.
  • Working knowledge of flowcharts, process maps and spreadsheet programs would be an advantage.
  • Excellent time management, analytical, problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
